Committees
St. Mark has several committees that serve the church and our communities.
If you are interested in joining a committee, please email the church at stmarksnydertown@gmail.com.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
This committee is responsible for overseeing and planning for Sunday School and other educational programs within the church. The committee also promotes and supports ELCA Church Camping Programs for youth.
ENDOWMENT FUND
The Endowment Committee oversees the management of the Endowment Fund, which consists of non-designated monetary bequests of more than $2,500. It also, out of thankfulness for the bequest to the church, gives annually to needs locally, nationally, and internationally.
WORSHIP AND MUSIC
This committee plans worship services and special services for the church and the community. It has a creative approach and is always looking for new and different ways for people to come together to worship and praise God.
PROPERTY
This committee is responsible for the maintenance, protection, and upkeep of all church buildings and grounds, as well as all the contents of each building. This also includes all electrical items such as the stair glide chair, the sound system, and all computer equipment.
MEMORIAL
This committee was established to
aid the council in the proper use of memorial funds and to expedite application of funds for specific memorial gifts.
ACTIVITIES
This committee plans and provides programs, activities, and events for the fellowship and fun of our congregational members and the community. This committee depends on its members and other volunteers for help, and works with other church committees as needed to provide assistance in any way. Activities have included outdoor concerts, holiday parties, movie nights, and more.
SOCIAL ACTION
This committee works to address ways to help our local, national, and international communities with their immediate needs and with social issues. It builds connections with community organizations, including shelters, food banks, mental health organizations, and more, to address the needs in our communities. It also helps with spiritual care of present members, seeking new members, helping to revitalize inactive members, and integrating new members into the congregation.
FINANCE & STEWARDSHIP
This committee oversees the congregation's budget, financial records, auditing, income, expenditures, and all other financial matters. It also is responsible for educating the congregation regarding stewardship and our support to the wider ministries being carried out in our behalf by the Allegheny Synod and the ELCA. Finally, it can assist individual members in their giving of time, talent, and treasures.
